Denis Yip

Keynote Speaker, Mr. Denis Yip

Senior Vice President, EMC Corporation
President, EMC Greater China

Denis Yip is Senior Vice President of EMC Corporation and President of EMC Greater China, with responsibilities for managing EMC's overall business operations in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Since joining EMC in July 2006, Denis has successfully strengthened EMC China's leadership position in the Greater China region with notable business growth. Denis' experience and expertise has helped enhance partner and channel relationships, further expand the sales and service teams, extend geographic coverage and boost product and solutions development throughout the region.

In March 2007, Denis announced the EMC China Five-Year Plan, emphasizing EMC's commitment to maintaining its number one position in China's information infrastructure solutions market.

The key components of the plan include: preserving EMC's lead in the traditional storage market and its dominance of the high-end market while looking to expand its position in the mid-market; developing the channels to stimulate business growth in the SME market; retaining the number one position in enterprise content management and next-generation data deduplication technologies; and doubling software business revenue every year.

To date, EMC has exceeded all targets laid out in the five-year plan with strong prospects for continued success. Through the 2009 financial crisis, Denis led the team in achieving economic growth in China despite the adverse situation, becoming the I.T. hero in the news headlines.

In addition to maintaining steady growth in the Greater China market, Denis led the team to explore new modes of collaboration. After the announcement of a joint venture with Digital China, EMC made further investment in the subsidiary company of Futong Technology in July 2010, in order to strengthen its capability in virtualization and private clouds. This set a milestone for the co-operation between IT value added distributors in China, system integrators and global IT vendors.

This year, Denis continues to lead the team in achieving EMC's global vision in China, bringing revolutionary hybrid cloud technology to customers and service providers. This has made EMC a leader in cloud computing and a leading storage provider in SME storage markets by providing the best solutions for SMEs. In addition, EMC will strengthen overall investments in local R&D, brand image and corporate social responsibility in China.

Prior to joining EMC, Denis was President of the Asia Pacific Storage Division of IBM. He has more than 19 years of worldwide industry experience in information management, software and global sales and services.

Denis received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, and his MBA from National Quemoy University.

Advanced Security Redefined - The Latest Threats Landscape

Mr. Tim Nan - Business Director, Fraud & Risk Intelligence, EMC Greater China & Korea

Web threats and fraud tactics continue to increase in number and sophistication as the profitability of cybercrime transforms the nature of the game. In 2013, phishing alone resulted in $5.9 billion in losses to global organizations, and three in four data breaches were attributed to financial or fraud motives. Cybercriminals have become more organized and adaptive, and continue to develop fraud-as-a-service models which make some of the most innovative and advanced threat and fraud technologies available to a much wider user base.

RSA Research is at the forefront of threat detection and cybercrime intelligence, protecting global organizations with the shutdown of over 800,000 cybercrime attacks.
